How to Update Your Book’s Price on KDP

After your book is published on Amazon, you may want to adjust your pricing strategy.

Please note that as a self-published author, you will always have the ability to change the price of your book on Amazon by logging into your Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) account. 

Here’s a step-by-step guide to updating your book’s price on KDP:

Accessing Price Settings

  1. Log into your KDP account at kdp.amazon.com
  2. From your KDP dashboard, locate the book you want to update
  3. Click the three dots (••• ) next to your book title
  4. Select “Edit pricing”

Updating Ebook Pricing

  1. On the “Rights and Pricing” tab, scroll to the pricing section
  2. Enter your new list price in your primary marketplace (typically US)
  3. KDP will automatically adjust prices for other marketplaces, though you can manually update these if desired

**Important Price Requirements for Ebooks:**

  • 70% Royalty Option: Price must be between $2.99 – $9.99
  • 35% Royalty Option: Price must be between $0.99 – $200

Updating Paperback Pricing

  1. Select the “Paperback” tab at the top of the page
  2. Scroll to the pricing section
  3. Enter your new list price
  4. Review your printing costs and estimated royalties
  5. Ensure your price covers printing costs plus allows for minimum $0.01 royalty

Finalizing Price Changes

  1. Review all pricing updates
  2. Click “Publish” at the bottom of the page
  3. Allow up to 72 hours for price changes to take effect across all marketplaces
