How to Permanently Hide Markups and Comments in Google Docs / Word
This article will show you how to permanently hide markups and comments in Word.
Tracked Changes and Comments will stay in the document forever until you Accept/Reject and Delete them.
When anyone opens a document that contains Tracked Changes or Comments the “View” setting automatically changes to “Final Showing Markup”. It doesn’t matter if you change your Option preference settings to not show formatting markups, comments, highlights, et cetera; nor does the “View” setting matter… if the document contains any unresolved markups, when the document is reopened, all markups are displayed. Make sure to follow the steps provided below before you submit your final manuscript for design.
Follow these simple steps to permanently clear Markups and Comments:
- Turn Track Changes Off
- Accept/Reject All Changes
- Delete All Comments
- Save the File
Turn Tracked Changes off by clicking ‘Editing’ in the drop down menu.
Accept individual Tracked Changes by clicking the checkmark. Decline individual Tracked Changes by clicking the X button.
Click the checkmark to delete each comment.
Google Docs save automatically if you’re connected to the internet. Now, you’re good to go!
